Rock Island Parks & Recreation

Spring Forward kids are able to participate in many great programs led by Rock Island Parks & Recreation staff and the new year is rolling in with two new activities. Kids in our after-school programs have started swim lessons and rugby will be offered over intercession break.

At Spring Forward we focus programs around the full development of the student which includes play. Research shows that an active body stimulates the brain and allows for more cognitive development. While engaging in play children use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play, starting at a very early age, helps children engage and interact in the world around them.

Nikki Carr, Community Recreation Manager, stated

"We keep hearing kids in the after-school program love swim lessons! Water safety is very important to us. By offering swimming through Spring Forward we are able to reach more youth that would not otherwise have access to lessons."

Thank you to Rock Island Parks and Recreation for providing dynamic programs for our youth!

We are grateful to RI Parks and Rec staff for teaching kids football, softball, basketball at our program sites, offering swim lessons at RIFAC, hosting summer campers for field trips at Schwiebert Park and Whitewater Junction, and offering scholarships for kids to attend Parks Programs.
