Title: Summer Site Assistant
Pay: $15-$20/hour
Hours: 8:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday
Program Dates:
ALL Districts: Monday, June 15th - Friday, July 17th 2026
Training: June 8th-12th (Approx 15 Hours Total; Times TBD);
Off June 19th and July 3rd
Program Locations:
RIMSD (2-3): TBD
EMSD (1): TBD
BETT (1): TBD
MSD (2-3): Roosevelt, TBD
(Flexibility in placement increases chances of securing a Summer ‘26 position)
Primary Function
The summer Site Assistant is responsible for the direct supervision of a group of elementary-aged children in a summer day camp program. The site assistant will support teachers with math and literacy instruction, and lead a variety of other camp activities.
Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains motivation in providing each child with a positive summer camp experience.
Responsible for daily, active supervision, organization, and leading of a group of students.
Works with an assigned Teacher to assist with small group ELA and Math instruction during morning academics.
Facilitate Art, STEM, JA and SEL lessons, as scheduled, using the lesson plans and supplies provided during the afternoons.
Actively engage and participate in all day to day camp activities.
Supervise students during Community Partner Enrichment visits, facilitate engagement of students, and provide support to their staff as needed.
Be active participants in all Field Trips; This includes: helping to organize/group students as they arrive, leading activities as needed, and supporting partners with any programming they provide
Assists in serving, supervising children, and cleaning during breakfast and lunch
Lead and organize activities during Team Building and recreational time
Follows and adheres all safety policies and procedures.
Demonstrates a positive, courteous and enthusiastic attitude with children, parents and co-workers in day to day activities.
Effectively and positively communicate with Supervisor, co-workers, students and parents (as needed)
Assist is keeping the camp site neat and clean, and all equipment and supplies in good order.
Participates in camp staff meetings and all training events.
Assists in implementing severe weather and crisis management procedures when needed.
Arrives to work on-time and in proper attire.
Skills/Knowledge Preferred
Education: Enrolled in a college degree program in education, psychology, sociology, youth development, etc. or at least 2 years experience working with youth.
Hands-on experience working with children.
Ability to motivate youth and help manage behavior problems.
First Aid/CPR certificate preferred.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
